Visit Pine Creek was formed as part of a PhD ARC Scholarship project by Gabrielle McGinnis and supervisors Mark Harvey, Ian Clark and Tamara Young of the University of Newcastle. This tourism website and Wagiman Community Heritage Archive were grassroots projects called upon by the local residents of Pine Creek and the surrounding areas.

The Pine Creek Heritage and Tourism Association maintains the website today. They, as well as the Pine Creek Aboriginal Advancement Association Inc. and, especially, the local residents and Elders were vital in the making of this project.
